When the fan group Schickeria München named an anti-racist football tournament after the former Bayern president Kurt Landauer in 2006 his name was known but to a few people. Previously his story was almost only to be found in the works of football historian, Dietrich Schulze-Marmeling.
After 10 football tournaments, three large banner displays in the stadium, several events, including those with Kurt Landauer’s nephew Uri Siegel plus many articles in fan publications, it’s no longer possible not to associate Kurt Landauer and his image with the FC Bayern landscape.
The work of a young team from the youth organization Kreisjugendrings and their film documentary „KICK IT LIKE KURT“ and the (memorial) work of the Reconciliation Church in Dachau has helped to ensure that the name Kurt Landauer is also recognized outside of the FC Bayern world. In 2013 Kurt Landauer was named an honorary president of FC Bayern, 2014 a movie about his life was shown on the first German TV channel and due to their dedicated work the group Schickeria won the Julius Hirch Prize of the German Football Association (DFB).
